Over the past several months, most have come to realize no industry is immune from the recession we are facing. Local Pennsylvania hospitals can be added to the list of entities suffering from the present financial crisis.
The Health System Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) released results of a survey conducted in December of 160 hospitals throughout Pennsylvania.
The survey revealed more than eighty percent of the hospitals had suffered a decline in their investment capital, and seventy-five percent reported that the present financial crisis had affected their financial stability. This has been attributed to the current credit crutch, failing stocks, and a substantial decline in patients visiting area hospitals.
